Three years ago today, I sat in the beautiful Kennedy Center watching my life unfold on screen during the historic Black Girls Rock Film Festival as my biopic, Giving Hope: The Ni’Cola Mitchell Story, premiered.
Holding hands with Tatyana Ali as we watched it together was one of the most emotional moments of my life. Seeing someone portray my journey was already overwhelming, but hearing her become emotional while speaking about what it meant to play me… that’s something I truly can’t even put into words.
It reminded me that every tear, every sacrifice, every prayer, and every step of faith mattered. That night will forever live in my heart as one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments that changed me.
